Since 1978, local minority business enterprises have had a valuable resource and advocate in the Central Ohio Minority Business Association (COMBA), founded by Frank W. Watson Jr. The agency was established prior to the legislation which created minority set asides in the State of Ohio; and operated the State's Minority Business Assistance Center (previously the Minority Contractors Business Assistance Program) until 2017.
COMBA'a Mission has included the provision of direct business and economic development assistance, which contributed to the growth and stability of Ohio's underutilized businesses with an emphasis on minority, female, socially and economically disadvantaged business enterprises.
It has been an honor, beyond measure, to serve and assist in the development, growth and stability of African American, female, and the overall small business community throughout the entire State with a focus on Central Ohio. It has also been our privilege and pleasure to Partner with various Public and Private sector agencies/businesses in providing these services.
On behalf of our Executive Board and myself, it has been an emotionally arduous process in making this decision, but COMBA has decided to close its doors. However, the fact that the Central Ohio area has a plethora of business and economic development "for-profit" and "non-profit" businesses/agencies whom provide excellent and vast services for businesses has made our decision easier.
We thank Everyone for the role that you have had in COMBA being able to serve!
